2. Peace no guns.
We must make peace a priority for the world. There is no path to peace. Peace is the way. We must reduce arms and guns. We stand at a pivotal time in history to change our course to one of peace. What we do (or fail to do now will affect the daily lives of our kids, grandkids, and ancestors in the long term. (Susan Beaver-Peace journalist) February 25, 2018.
Let’s think about this for a minute. We spend billions of dollars to kill other human beings. It will be better to invest these billions in affordable health care, education and dignified housing.
3. Protect the environment.
We need to protect the environment because we are destroying our habitat. We created environmental hazards and danger: our lakes and oceans have become dumping grounds for dangerous chemicals (pesticides, herbicides, oil and refinery products, industrial wastes, and heavy metals).
Environmental degradation is detrimental since it threatens long term health of animals, humans and plants.
Air and water pollution, global warming smog, acid rain, deforestation, wildfires are just a few of the environmental issues to attend to.
We all need to make the planet a beautiful place.
4. Be an animal advocate.
We need to become advocates for animals. We must play a critical role in legislative efforts for a more humane treatment of animals. Non-human animals are conscious, intelligent and emotional beings. Every animal deserves a better life. We need to shape public opinion on animal cruelty through awareness.
5. Change your diet.
We usually eat food based on our enjoyment factor. We choose food that tastes good but is not healthy to our bodies. We eat more than our bodies actually need, which in turn makes us fat, unhappy and depressed. Many of us do not know what a healthy meal is. We need to study, research and should strive for a healthy lifestyle. We all know about being obese, diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure.
It all takes discipline and we need to do this for ourselves and families. Choose wisely, and you will soon find that feeding your body translates into a longer, healthier, more enjoyable lives.
6. Support music and arts and sports.
I believe that music art and sports have a lot in common. They all require dedication, talent and skill. Music, arts and sports make our life more enjoyable. When you see a musician playing on the street help with a small donation. There is enough research that shows the positivity of music, arts and sports in children and senior citizens.
7. Take Saturday off and advocate so employees can leave early on Fridays.
This world’s rat race is and endless, self-defeating and pointless pursuit. This exhausting, repetitive life style leaves no time for relaxation or enjoyment. Employees should now work no more than 35 hours per week. Leaving more time for themselves, their families and communities. Having a more meaningful life and developing an inner attitude of detachment from materialistic pursuits.
8. Become a Global citizen.
A global citizen is someone who identifies with being part of an emerging world community and whose action contributes to building this community’s values and practices. You may have heard the term “Global Citizenship” or being citizens of the world. Global citizenship is an increasing common idea: universities use the term to promote global awareness, international education and businesses use it to highlight their commitment to corporate social responsibility and sustainability around the world. It’s also a movement that uses online activism and social media worldwide to work toward ending global poverty. Global solutions to major social issues and developing a greater understanding of the world. (Travel Mirror, Natalie Jesionka).
